[NEWS] PREPARE FOR THE GENRE-BENDING EXPERIENCE THAT IS THE CINEPOCALYPSE FILM FESTIVAL

Read Time:2 Minute, 24 Second

YOU GUYS READY FOR THE END OF THE WORLD?

There’s a lot to say about a good film festival that determines to bring you things you’ve never seen before. That’s why we’re happy to be covering the legendary Cinepocaplyse, an “ass-kicking genre” film festival! Straight out of Chicago and ready to reign and bring some glorious films for all to see.

The slate for the festival is insane, and we’re so lucky that we even get to see some of these movies. This genre film festival includes tons of premieres including punk/metal icon Glenn Danzig’s directorial debut of Verotika. The film and its content are super secret, but we know that this movie will be an anthology that combines his “his lifelong love of comics and the dark arts.”

More premieres include Gigi Saul’s Culture Shock about “a young Mexican woman as her pursuit for the American Dream turns into the American Nightmare.Dead Con focusing on “a mystery writer suspected of murder when a colleague turns up dead in the exact way that is laid out in his latest, highly praised book.” Satanic Panic with the sickest premise of all. “A pizza delivery girl at the end of her financial rope has to fight for her life – and her tips – when her last order of the night turns out to be to a group of high-society Satanists in need of a virgin sacrifice.” I will stop here but believe me when I say, there are many many more premieres to see, just check out this lineup!

But wait, there’s more! One of the FAVORITES to be shown is the original 35mm R-Rated ‘Gore-Cut’ World Premiere of Stewart Raffill’s Tammy and the T-Rex! If you’ve never heard of this movie, here’s a little synopsis to get you by.

An evil scientist implants the brain of Michael, a murdered high school student, into a Tyrannosaurus. He escapes, wreaks vengeance on his high school tormentors and is reunited with his sweetheart Tammy.” (Source: IMDB)

You know you want to see this movie. You just do.

Recently announced, Joe Bob Briggs will be making an appearance at the festival with his fantastic show How Rednecks Saved Hollywood! This comes on the back of his incredible comeback from Shudder. (You guys should check out our coverage of his awesome series right here.) On June 18th, you can purchase tickets now to see How Rednecks Saved Hollywood!

There’s no question that this is going to be a genre-breaking blast. We here at DIS/MEMBER are very excited to be covering this festival, and we can’t wait to see what it has in store!

Cinepocaplyse is set to take place at Chicago’s Music Box Theater on June 13th till June 20th. There’s still time to attend this event and pick up festival and individual badges and tickets at cinepocalypsegenrefest.com.
