Ann Woll and Logan Miller star in ESCAPE ROOM.

Escape Room! The movie that everybody clowned on, but saw anyway! I missed this one, but everyone I know that saw it really seemed to dig it. Hell, Insha even reviewed it, calling for it to start off a franchise!

Well, the Movie Gods heard the Chief, because Deadline is reporting that Escape Room 2 has set a release date: April 17, 2020. Plot and casting are being kept under wraps but what we do know is that the original team behind the first installment, writer Bragi F. Schut and director Adam Robitel, are returning to guide this budding franchise.

Honestly, it is kind of a no-brainer if you look at the numbers. The first one raked in over $119 MILLION dollars against a $9 mil budget which is just…astounding, really. I knew it had done well, but jeezy peets, I had no idea it did THAT well. So naturally Columbia Pictures and Sony are lookin’ to Saw the shit outta this baby, and good on ’em. We haven’t had any real new original franchise horror here lately, and this one seems to have a good gimmick and audiences have responded pretty well to it, so hell yeah, gimmie nine of them. Or maybe don’t — that seems excessive.

But what do YOU think? Are you into this? Did you like the first one? Are you MAD at me I didn’t watch the first one? I will get around to it, I promise. Let us know in the comments below.
